  • Children are welcome. Consider a stroller even if your child(ren) might not be using it much anymore. Please note this is a celebratory event for LGBTQ+ people and a time for individuals to share the fullness of who they are.

  • Tech: Ensure that your mobile devices are fully charged when you arrive and consider bringing a backup power source. Also note that there will be a lot of cell traffic in the parade area and this may create network overload. This may limit your ability to send and receive calls/data at the parade.

  • Bring water to stay hydrated during the parade; we suggest bringing more than you think you will need.

  • Sun protection: Wear sunscreen, sunglasses and/or other UV protective gear.

  • What to wear: lightweight, breathable clothing and comfortable/sturdy walking shoes (unstructured footwear such as flips are not recommended). Check the forecast for parade day and bring weather-appropriate gear. Clergy are encouraged to wear collars, stoles or other vestments.

  • Pride apparel: Wear a solid pride color T-shirt or unbranded LGBTQIA+ affirming shirt. No individual church signage or t-shirts are allowed. If you need further details about this, you are invited to contact Jim Early at the above e-mail address.

  • End of the parade: Volunteers are requested to assist with tear-down and making the float road-ready.

  • Your First Amendment Rights: A great deal of planning with local law enforcement organizations has been put in place to keep everyone safe at the parade. The Capital Pride Alliance believes that no group or individual has the right to prevent your voice from being heard and has prepared for potential disruptions at the Parade. As a member of our contingent, do not engage with protesters. If you have safety concerns, speak with a parade marshal, law enforcement officer or call 911.
